Legal Status
World Kabaddi Federation (WKF) The first ever International Federation for Kabaddi sport was officially founded in 2003 with a vision to find a way to unite all the Kabaddi organizations as well as to use Kabaddi sport to promote Peace, Harmony, Understanding and Co-operation amongst the world community. Later as per the decision of the First World Congress held on the 4th Nov. 2004, “World Kabaddi Federation” was incorporated under section 25 of the companies Act, 1956 on 30 the September 2005 with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India as an International Sports Federation to govern the game of Kabaddi at international level in capacity of organisation in charge of all forms of Kabaddi sports in World; the representative authority in all other world bodies responsible for Commonwealth, Continental games, world games, regional and International Olympic games and other sports related global activities and programs. It shall organize and sanction International league competitions, official World Cup, World Championships and all other Regional and International tournaments.
Certificate of Incorporation
The certificate of Incorporation U/S 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 bearing No. U74999DL2005NPL141352 of 2005-2006 dated 30th day of September 2005 was issued by the Registrar of Companies, NCT of Delhi & Haryana.
Licence Under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956
Licence Under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 bearing No. 2/14/T-1/2005/D dated 6th day of September 2005 was issued by Government of India, Ministry of Company Affairs, Office of the Regional Director, Northern Region.
International Olympic Committee (IOC) Recognition
As per the provision of the Olympic Charter ( Chapter 3, section 26 & 27 ) The World Kabaddi Federation (WKF) had officially applied for registration with IOC & requested for the recognition of the Kabaddi sport. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has assured the recognition the Kabaddi sport upon having a minimum of 50 affiliated National Federations.
Status with United Nations – ECOSOC
United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) has granted Special consultative status to World Kabaddi Federation on 13th August 2013.
WKFs status now entitles to designate official representatives to the United Nations Headquarters in New York and the United Nations offices in Geneva and Vienna.
Int’I member of Int’l Sports Network Organization (ISNO)
World Kabaddi Federation was officially recognized as an International Member of International Sports Network Organization (ISNO) on 6th April 2020 for active sporting activities at International level.
Full member of General Association of the Asia Pacific Sports Federation (GAAPSF)
World Kabaddi Federation was officially recognized as a fulll Member of General Association of the Asia Pacific Sports Federation on 25th May 2020 for active sporting activities at continental level.
Member of Int’l Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE)
World Kabaddi Federation was officially recognized as a Member of International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE) recognized body of International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 16th April 2021.
Accredited member of Int’l Trade Council (ITC)
World Kabaddi Federation demonstrates conformance and recognition of accreditation as a member of International Trade Council on 18th September 2021.
